Welcome to Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies Comics. On this blog, we'll be taking a look at the overlooked side career of the Warner Bros. cartoon characters. Though beloved and celebrated on theater and TV screens for generations of fans, Bugs Bunny and his cartoon cohorts have also had an equally lengthy career in print.

"Looney Tunes" (DC) #45, October 1998: "Wise Quacker"
In this 1998 story by David Weiss and David Alvarez, homeless Daffy Duck sees a sign for a comedy contest at a nightclub. As luck would have it, the audience is made up entirely of rabbits, and they don't find his schtick funny at all!
Notice that in the last panel of the third page, an early version of Bugs (from 1939) turns up in the audience. He's the guy closest to the stage during the food-throwing, yelling out "BOO!"
This is my all-time favorite Daffy Duck comic.
